Period of Postbaptismal Catechesis or Mystagogy

This is the beginning of your sacramental life. Neophytes focus on strengthening their bond with the rest of the faithful, entering more fully into the life of the Church, and telling others about the Good News.

Step 4: Postbaptismal Catechesis or Mystagogy

Neophytes should pray daily, attend Mass at least weekly, and go to Confession regularly (monthly is suggested) to help them grow in their faith.

Neophytes should sit in the front pews for the Easter season. Neophytes are encouraged to wear a white shirt during the Easter season.

Neophytes should prepare a witness statement prior to Ascension Sunday (40 days after Easter).

Begin participating in the sacrament of Reconciliation regularly (suggested is monthly).

Ask the parish office for a Journey of Faith Mystagogy Booklet. There is also a teacher's guide available for the sponsor.
